HELP FINDING A JOB AND HIGHER EDUCATION

“It helped me get a good understanding of the industry and I want to get further

It’s all very well training people, but will it lead our successful trainees to anything?
Good point, it’s an over crowded field, but we bring something else to the party.

We offer up-to-the-minute, realistic training in all areas of video production from how to organise a budget, how to book equipment and indeed how to use equipment, right through to directing and editing on industry standard machines. On top of that we make sure all our trainees understand the importance of punctuality, reliability, and the working dynamics of a production team.

Our Placements Co-ordinator is regularly in touch with potential employers – broadcasters, production companies, facility and post-production houses – where trainees can get on the first rung of the ladder.

We’re on hand to help with finding work – or moving on to further training or higher education.

We focus on:

:: Career guidance, including help on how to write a good CV, covering letter and application form.
:: How to work as part of a team and the work ethic employers expect from employees.
:: Support in identifying opportunities, and applying for, work placements, employment, further education and training. We prepare trainees for the practicalities and the ups and downs of freelance life.
:: Work on our commissioned productions.
:: Support in promoting trainees’ work through screenings and festival distribution
:: Continuing career and business advice and support to ex-trainees in the development of their own productions.

Some of the jobs we’ve helped successful ex-trainees to get:

::
Assistant director at the BBC
::
Digitisers, traffic controllers and editors in production houses
::
Camera and sound trainees on “I’ll Sleep when I’m Dead.”
::
Four people on foundation courses at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design
::
Trainee location manager on the industry’s FT2 Scheme.
