The Video College

OUT OF SCHOOL LEARNING PROJECTS

“We worked in a team to produce our own documentary films…It was fun…. I learnt so much from the tutors”

At our youth space in Telford Road in Ladbroke Grove, we run regular, after school drop-in sessions to introduce 12-25 year olds to The Video College and new creative, technical and production skills. Young people work in small groups to produce short videos and are encouraged to come up with ideas for larger productions.

After school, at weekends, half term and in holidays, specific times are then set aside for in-depth training with experienced tutors to help young people produce a range of videos in various disciplines, that are then exhibited at regular screenings.

The Programme Offers Young People:

:: A secure and structured educational environment which supports their learning and personal development.
:: An opportunity to work in small, confidence building groups.
:: The chance to develop core skills, such as language and literacy, organisation, teamwork, time management and decision-making.
:: The opportunity to create videos that reflect their own interests and ideas and explore personal and social issues.
:: An introduction to industry practice.
:: Opportunities for public recognition, through screenings of work.
